fantastic work.
you could have taken the picture of that assyriac church by approaching the locked gate of it.
I approached the gate last summer, looked through the hole on the gate and saw pictures of jesus and old curtains etc.

and theres another church down the harput road still used by the tiny armenian community. its located betwween the downtown and harput road. just next to aslyum..

I'm currently in the anxious stage of waiting for my invitation. It's the most difficult process I've ever been through. Reading your blog gave me inspiration to stick out the wait, and be patient for the remaining wait time.

My fienrd Julie, who is an artist who lives here in Heath, lived in Guatemala for, I think, fifteen years in the 60s and 70s. She just came back from a trip there, and she told me some stories about changes that have happened in Guatemala since those days. They were incredible and somewhat difficult to hear, particularly about the gangs that have moved in more recently, boys who are attracted to selling drugs and some of the desperation of the poor–and how the quality of life has gone down in that particular city in the last 15 years or so. Much of it has to do with the way first-world culture has influenced people all over the world, in ways we’ve seen before. Anyway, it was all fascinating and a bit heart-wrenching, I wish you could hear those stories. She said that in the years she lived there, it was close to paradise…all the things you say here, and more.

.Israel afdfros equal rights to the Muslim, Christian and Druze minorities in Israel. There are 3 Arab political parties represented in the Knesset. Sadly enough, the Jewish minorities in Arab countries had been deported. That includes your precious Iraq, where the Jewish presence dated back over 2000 year. Sadly you ignore history. So sad

Well Chris, Israel is not your cotruny. You do not live there, nor does the state policy impact on your daily life. I suggest you focus on your own home and allow Israel sort out its issues. What you really d not understand is the need for a Jewish state. Jews have not exclusively live in the US. The Arab world emptied itself of their ancient Jewish communities in a very short period. Some even sought inspiration from Nazi Germany. Ff course we already know what happened in Europe.I think it really disturbs you that Jews have a homeland. Jews can look at it as their home while residing elsewhere, which is not much different than, lets say ,the Armenian diaspora. I’m sorry this disturbs you. I am sorry you resent a little cotruny that is far more progressive, and democratic than its neighbors. You resent a little cotruny that exports medical advances, technology and scientific knowledge while its neighbors exports terrorism and oppresses its own citizens. Your resentment reminids me why Jews need a national homeland. Thanks you for that reminder.
